Pair of Gesto Wall or Ceiling Lamps by Bruno Gecchelin for Skipper, Italy 1970
By Skipper, Bruno Gecchelin
Located in Conversano, IT
Rare and sculptural pair of "Gesto" lamps designed by Bruno Gecchelin for Skipper, Italy, in the 1970s. These striking lights can be mounted on either the wall or ceiling, and are part of Gecchelin's celebrated exploration of architectural lighting design. Each lamp features a white enameled steel base and head, connected by two semicircular chrome tubular arcs (2 cm in diameter). The design clearly echoes Bauhaus influences, with a minimal yet expressive geometry-a refined blend of form and function typical of Gecchelin's work. These lamps were published in Domus Magazine (November 1979), a testament to their cultural and historical relevance within Italian modernist lighting. Please note: This item is in a very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present but do not affect its functionality. We kindly ask you to consider these characteristics prior to purchase. Richard Sapper ‘Tizio’ Table Lamp Artemide, Italy, 1972
By Artemide, Richard Sapper
Located in London, GB
Richard Sapper (1932-2015) was born in German but worked in Italy, and his work brings together the best design principles of both nations. On one hand the ‘Tizio’ lamp possesses a northern European emphasis on functionalism. It was conceived as the ideal table lamp by its creator because of its wide range of movements, based on precisely calibrated counterweights at the end of each of the arms. On the other hand, it has a radically lithe profile and dusky, equipoised sense of style redolent of southern European sensibilities. It has become “an icon of high-tech design”, according to the MoMA where an example exhibited, and had its heyday as the lamp of choice for the design-conscious bright young things...
