Mario Botta Pair of Vintage 'Shogun' Table Lamps for Artemide, 1986

About the Item

Exceptional pair of iconic vintage 'Shogun' Table Lamps by architect and designer Mario Botta (1943) for Artemide 1986. Straight from the first owners, these table lamps have always been together. Bought by the original owners in 1987, these lamps are early Artemide editions with original documentation included. These iconic table lamps have a very strong architectonic appearance and feel. At the same time they are very delicate in the way they light up the room. The interplay between light and dark, black and white and different materials gives these lamps a presence you don't often see. The large size of the 'Shogun' lamp alone gives it a very stately and robust feel. The striped bases are a strong hint to the architectural work by Mario Botta, one of the most important Italian architects of the last fifty years. Rare as a vintage pair, these lamps will lighten up your room in a very elegant and architectonic fashion.

  • Poul Henningsen Ph 3½-2½ Table Lamp for Louis Poulsen
    By Poul Henningsen
    Located in Tilburg, NL
Pouls Henningsen PH 3½-2½ Table Lamp. Denmark, designed 1928, new, current production. PH 3 ½-2 ½ Table was designed in 1928 and is one of many development projects undertaken by PH in connection with the development of his world-famous three-shade system. The table lamp is based on PH's original drawings, and comes with the first type of shade holder, with adjustment screws. The top metal shade has a rolled edge, a decorative and stabilising feature that makes the shade appear thicker than the actual material. The two bottom shades are made of mouth-blown opal glass. PH found that this combination utilises the light source more efficiently, directing the light downwards due to the reflection from the white inner surface of the top shade. The frame is brown painted brass giving the lamp the same appearance as the burnished brass lamps of the time – a process that is no longer recommended due to environmental considerations. Material: Top shade: Spun aluminium painted in yellow with a white rolled edge. The inside of the top shade is white. Middle and lower shade are mouth-blown glass. Shade holder: Silk matt...
