Mario Botta Shogung Lamp 1st Edition 1986 by Artemide

About the Item

For sale a rare early example of Mario Botta''s iconic Postmodern "Shogun" table lamp, produced by Artemide, Italy and designed in 1986. This beautiful and sought after table lamp features two independently adjustable, perforated steel diffusers (one larger, one smaller), that playfully rotate around the same axis to create different lighting and aesthetic effects and stands on a heavy aluminium striped barrel base. In fair vintage condition, with paint loss, in particular to the shades, commensurate with 30+ years of age & use (please see photos). Swiss architect Mario Botta may be renowned for his impressive postmodern architecture projects such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, but the chairs, lighting and other furniture he created reflect a mastery of geometrically rich forms and an elegant application of simple symmetry.
