A pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. Ormolu candelabra lamps
About the Item
A stunning and most decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. Ormolu candelabra lamps. Each impressive two arm candelabra is raised by a circular mottled edge socle shaped base with scrolling movements. Above the base are the foliate scrolling arms with beautiful acanthus leaf decorated candle cups. The squared central fut, with its pierced foliated ring finial, holds the exquisite adjustable upholstered rectangular shade. The shade is tastefully decorated by a scrolling foliate frame with a butterfly reserve and pierced heart shaped handle in the rear. In its time, the frontal shade was used in order to keep the heat from the candle away from a users face.
