Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Griotte Marble and Ormolu Lamps
About the Item
A high quality and most charming true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu two arm candelabra lamps. Each lamp is raised by elegant ormolu topie shaped feet below the oval shaped Rouge Griotte marble base, with fine pierced fitted rinceaux shaped ormolu mounts. Above are finely detailed ormolu cherubs seated on the side of the circular fluted support. One cherub is seemingly holding the support while the other is whimsically playing two flutes while sitting on a book. The beautifully curved arms are adorned with acanthus leaves ending in lovely foliate candle cups. The arms are centered by a striking and richly chased acorn finial in a rich satin and burnished finish. With all original gilt throughout.
