About the Item
This striking table lamp was produced by Markslöjd in Kinna, Sweden, in the 1960s. The piece is marked with the Markslöjd label and model number on the underside of the base.
The design is characterized by a sculptural, organically shaped frame resting on a circular base made of solid stained beech wood. It features a brass detail that leads to a black Bakelite light fitting. The coolie-shaped shade has been renewed with ivory-white, linen-textured fabric and can be adjusted into different positions. A striking example of Scandinavian Modern lighting.
The lamp is in very good condition, with a renewed shade. Currently with a 220V European plug.
Other designers working in the Scandinavian Modern style include Hans Bergström, Paavo Tynell, Hans Agne Jakobsson and Carl Malmsten.
