About the Item
Antique splendid and rare domed mirror, noteworthy for its large dimensions: the maximum height, including the cornice, is 185 cm, and the width is 101 cm. It originated as a console mirror, used in large 19th-century rooms with very high ceilings. Today, these mirrors are sought after for more practical purposes: in a showroom or to brighten and enlarge spaces. The frame, with its original mirror, was made in France in the mid-19th century. At the center of the cornice is a shell, and on the sides are symmetrical floral and leaf motifs. The frame, with rounded upper corners, is decorated internally with rosary bead elements on a matte gold background. In its first patina, it is in good condition.
