Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period patinated Wood and Giltwood trumeau mirror
About the Item
A monumental scaled and extremely decorative Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period patinated Wood and Giltwood trumeau mirror. This palatial mirror is raised by a plinth base, with a dark olive patina, below three recessed panels framed in Giltwood containing sections painted in sage green and decorated with foliate garlands. The upper section is centered by the original Mirror plate framed by Giltwood rope twist and is decorated with Greek key motifs, as well as hanging floral garlands, topped with a fluted entablement and a large richly carved seashell with bow tied ribbon and berried laurel designs. Flanking the mirror plate are columns framed in Giltwood, adorned with floral blooms and vines on a sage green background, topped with a large Giltwood palmette below an ionian wave border and crown molding.
