Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Patinated and Giltwood Mirror, from Milan
About the Item
A beautiful Italian 18th century Louis XVI period patinated and giltwood mirror, from Milan. The original beveled mirror plate is framed within a lovely beaded and Coeur de Rai designed border. At the base is a carved mottled design with fine architectural columns leading up each side. Each side column is adorned with exceptional carved flowers and foliate movements in beautiful vivid colors and all framed within a twisted ribbon carved giltwood band. Above is the striking and most decorative arched top crown with additional wonderfully executed colorful flowers and intertwined foliate designs. Centering the top of the mirror is a most impressive seashell reserve with a bouquet of flowers at the center, berried laurel branches and charming urns at each side.
