About the Item
A grand and most impressive Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated Wood and Giltwood mirror. The stunning mirror with its original mirror plate raised on a patinated off-white plinth below scrolled foliate Giltwood mounts. At the center is the most elegant original mirror plate set within an intricately detailed Rais de Coeur border with Giltwood rosettes at each corner. Flanking the mirror plate are wonderfully detailed off white and Giltwood columns with elegant spiraling grape vines and circular bands. The columns lead up to a recessed panel with a fanciful swaging garland, reeded upper trim, and egg and dart bands. The top crown displays a palmette design all below the top central reserve showcasing a central oval medallion of a female profile, with an eternal flame and a quiver with arrows to each side, and leading to large scale ball finials. All original gilt and patina throughout.
