Beautiful and important brass bed with nine sculptural relief panels finihed in fired enamel . The bed was designed by Osvaldo Borsani in 1959 and and comes with a certificate of authencity from the Osvaldo Borsani archive confirming the date . Stunning all original example, nothing has been restored or modified. This particular series of brass and fire enamel beds were only fabricated in very small numbers as bespoke custom orders for important clients , the beds were hand made by the Arredamenti Borsani in Varedo, Italy and feature a sculptural form solid brass headboard into which are inserted a series of nine, fire enameled (green), brass sculptural plaques each featuring a unique, beautiful engraved organic motif, reminiscent of early magical rune stones or cuneiform markings, creating a supremely elegant and timeless motif, a sophisticated synthesis of poetic expression and functional design. The bed is completely original and retains all of it's original components, side and foot rails with original upholstery, brass legs and all the original brass nuts and bolts which feature unusual sculptural form heads which feature the same three dimensional decorative finish as the decorative sculptural forms on the headboard. This example even still has its original pair of steel frame sprung mattress supports.  This small series of hand made Borsani beds featuring the rare and highly desirable colored , fire enameled ,sculptures rarely appear on the open market and when they do they command high prices , one example sold at Philips auction...
