About the Item

A bronze Champlevé Buddhist temple Altar candleholder, Meiji period, with stylized elephant head handles and Ram's heads decoration. The enamel work has some loss and there is a stress crack/worn split on the top section of the base, which can be seen in a close-up photo provided. The top is flared and has a large opening to hold a candle. The Altar candleholder is nicely worked top to bottom and measures 18"-inches high x 6:-inches in diameter, circa 1890
