DESCRIPTION: FIRST EDITION. 1 vol., folio, 11-1/16" x 8", (ix)288pp., with the additional engraved title-page dated 1623, bound in contemporary full paneled calf over cords.
CONDITION: Binding expertly rebacked and restored, gilt lettered spine, internally clean and bright, A VERY GDOO COPY.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The author, who chooses to remain anonymous, signs his dedication to the Duke of Buckingham "Philanactophil", a pseudonym he adopted for this and some later works meaning "friend of the King's friend". The present work "... is a life of Nero with particular notes of transactions in Britain. Bolton brings coins and medals to illustrate statements of historians" (DNB).
