This is a signed, first edition printing of Susan McDougal’s book, The Woman Who Wouldn't Talk: Why I Refused to Testify Against the Clintons & What I Learned in Jail. Written with Pat Harris, this book was published by Carroll and Graf Publishers, in New York, in 2003. It is signed “Susan McDougal” on the full title page, in blue ink. It is presented in the publisher’s original black spine over orange hardback boards, with silver titles to the spine, and the original pictorial dust jacket. It has a new archival slipcase, with a photograph of McDougal inlaid on the front.
Susan McDougal’s book The Woman Who Wouldn’t Talk is an autobiography, concentrating on the author’s persecution by Whitewater Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr. This account reveals the price paid by one individual as a result of the efforts to impeach Bill Clinton. The book details the constant demands by Starr’s office to provide incriminating testimony against the Clintons, first to avoid prosecution, then to lessen charges, and then finally to gain her freedom. McDougal refused to cooperate and as a result served 18 months in prison for civil contempt. McDougal’s life story tells a great deal about the tenacity and courage of a rather ordinary American to speak the truth, defy authority and defend democratic rights, at great personal cost.

Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Fitzgerald, F. Scott. The Beautiful and the Damned. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1922. First edition, first state. Rebound in ¼ leather and cloth boards, with raised bands, gilt titles, and tooling to the spine. Gilded edges. New archival cloth slipcase.
Presented is a first edition, first state of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and the Damned. The book was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in New York in 1922. It is presented here, rebound, in gorgeous blue ¼ leather and cloth boards, with raised bands, gilt titles, and gilt tooling to the spine, and a new archival slipcase.
The Beautiful and the Damned was Fitzgerald’s second novel, following his debut This Side of Paradise. The book is an exploration of the nouveau riche, New York City nightlife in the 1920s, and the inner dynamics of two young and reckless newlyweds. Semi-autobigraphical, Fitzgerald modeled the characters of Anthony Patch and Gloria Gilbert on himself and his new spouse Zelda Fitzgerald and the story draws circumstantially upon the early years of Fitzgeralds' tempestuous marriage.
Fitzgerald started writing The Beautiful and the Damned in August of 1920, while in Westport Connecticut. Having reflected upon the criticisms of his debut novel This Side of Paradise, Fitzgerald sought to improve upon the form and construction of his prose in this second book. He relied heavily on editorial suggestions from his friend Edmund Wilson...

The Poetical Works of the late Thomas Little, Esq. by Thomas MOORE
Located in Middletown, NY
A handsomely-bound collection of juvenile poetry by Thomas Moore (1779 – 1852), published under the pseudonym of Thomas Little due to the eroticism of their content, as Moore's celebration of kisses and embraces was regarded as improper. A relatively successful publication, which was put to an end with the Victorian tight sense of propriety. Thomas Moore was an Irish poet...
