About the Item

Impressive floor model globe Made in Germany Heinrich Kiepert, Dietrich Reimer c late 19th C / Early 20 C. The large ( 22" Dia. ) globe fits into the reeded oak column base, on a scroll foot plinth base. The globe shows significant damage, including separations, and cosmetic wear to the map surface etc. The wood column is structurally sound and sturdy, it is missing minor pieces of trim, and the finish shows wear, please see images. Hard to find the large examples of globes from this period and maker. Worthwhile as is or have it restored if you're so inclined.
