About the Item
A rare antique leather and wood ribbed wardrobe travel trunk salesman sample with beautifully fitted interior. The trunk with brass capped rounded corners, leather side handles, latches with key, wood slatted bottom, protective leather straps to corners and nailhead construction.
The trunk opens to reveal a taupe and white fabric lined interior, 4 wooden drawers with ornate metal escutcheon plates, two wooden hangers on a sliding rod, curtain drape with rings and attached leather snap fasteners. The door drops down to reveal a hat box with strap fastener having a working key and lock.
Dimensions: 6 1/4" W, 6 1/2" D x 13 3/4" H (closed position)

Provenance: antique shop in Budapest
Condition: Various signs of age include a lower panel missing on inside left side door, one snap broken off to top of curtain (see photo 5), 2 splinters to the drop down drawer, missing label evidenced by 4 nailheads, general wear and stains to leather and interior, part of lock is missing on front.
