This antique bronze by Jean François Théodore Gechter is of museum quality.
This amazing bronze angel is by one of France's most talented, early twentieth century sculptors. Jean François Théodore Gechter (1796-1844) created this piece in what turned out to be one of the last years of his life and everything about this sculpture shows that this is the work of a seasoned artisan. Bot the anatomic details and the natural body posture are of the highest quality. The patination too is of 'museum quality'. When we searched for this particular work of art on the internet, we only found one of the exact same design, but that one had wings and it was priced at 4000 dollar. If this here kneeling angel ever had wings then someone at some point in time did the most amazing job restoring the surface and patina on the back of this angel. By the way, we also found one fake/copy on the internet and it looked terrible. This nearly 200 year old bronze is refined, pure Renaissance in style, soulful, serene and it breathes nothing but class and beauty. She truly is a joy to own and look at.
