About the Item
Rare pair of large kneeling monks in the position of prayer/meditation.
Red and black lacquered Burmese teak wood with remnants of gold leaf. Untouched original condition with beautiful age-related patina.
Very beautiful with peaceful facial expressions and extremely rare to find.
From temples in Burma, 18th century. In the temple, one monk was placed on each side of the Buddha.
The monks have small measurements variance. Sold as a pair.
