About the Item

Jones, Robert (Bobby) Tyre, Jr., Golf Is My Game. New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1960. Second edition, inscribed and signed by Bobby Jones on first free endpaper. Presented in original dust jacket and boards. This is a second edition of Golf Is My Game, signed by the famous golfer Bobby Jones. The book is presented in its original dust jacket and boards. The second autobiography written by Bobby Jones, Golf Is My Game gives Jones’s account of his 1930 “Grand Slam” in which he was the first player to win all of golf’s four major championships in one calendar year. Today, Jones is still the only person to have done so. At just 28 years old and after having won all four titles, Jones retired from competitive golf but his involvement was not over. The author went on to play twelve Master’s Tournaments after his retirement and helped to found the famous Augusta National Golf Club. This personal account of his career’s most famous year is written in first person and includes captioned illustrations and black and white photographs. CONDITION: Good condition. Octavo. In publisher’s original green and black boards with gold titles along the spine and original dust jacket, now wrapped in Mylar. Dust jacket exhibits toning to spine, a tear from front cover to spine tail, mild shelving wear. Moderate age toning, mild wear at head joint corners and along head edge. Adhesive staining along hinges between pastedowns and end pages, and toning along edge, clear of signature. Jones inscribed and signed on the first free endpaper: "To Tom Cauble with best regards Bob Jones." Inscription is legible, in blue ink. 255pp. Book Dimensions: 9 1/2"H x 6 3/8"W x 1"W. Ulysses by James Joyce, First Authorized American Edition, 1934
By James Joyce
Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Joyce, James. Ulysses. New York: Random House, 1934. First Authorized American Edition. Octavo. In publisher’s original red and black stamped cream cloth boards, original first issue printed dust jacket, and a custom folding slipcase. Presented is a first authorized American edition of Ulysses, a modernist novel by James Joyce. The book was published in New York by Random House, in 1934. It is presented in its original red and black stamped cream cloth boards, original first issue printed dust jacket, and a custom folding slipcase. James Joyce originally conceived of Ulysses as a short story to be included in Dubliners, but decided to publish it as a long novel instead. Ulysses takes place on a single day, June 16, 1904, in Dublin, and follows three main characters: Stephen Dedalus, Leopold Bloom and his wife Molly Bloom. Divided into 18 episodes, Joyce drastically shifts narrative style with each new episode, completely abandoning the previously accepted notions of plot, setting, and characters. It is considered by many to be the paramount in Modernist literature. Ulysses has a very interesting publishing history, with at least 18 editions and numerous variations of each edition. It was first serialized in the American journal The Little Review...

Golfing Catalogue, ‘GOLF: Past and Present'
Located in Oxfordshire, GB
Ref:24104 This catalogue accompanied the joint exhibition of the same name by Nick Potter and ourselves. The exhibition followed on from the great success of the other golfing exhibitions we had held. It had taken several years since the last exhibition to be able to assemble such a fine collection of golfing memorabilia. This exhibition was also exciting as it had the superb collection of the original artwork of Ken Reed. Ken is one of the world’s leading painters of golf course landscapes and official poster designer to both the Royal and Ancient Club and the U.S.G.A., and this was the first exhibition of his original paintings. The combination of early images of Michael Brown, John Smart...
