About the Item

Pair of thoune "Thuner Majolika" Vedute plates, circa 1890, topographical miniature paintings of alpine scenery and Geneva framed by brightly colored incised and raised enamel, traditional folk Swiss eldelweiss border. Produced in Heimberg near Thun in the Simmernthal area of the Canton of Berne, Switzerland. The plates measure 7 5/8"-inches in diameter x 1 1/4"-inches high. Some minor touch-up paint restoration. Lit: Reference, Hermann Buchs "Von Heimberger Geschirr zur Thuner Majolika" Krebser, 1988.
