About the Item

A very rare 19th Century mahogany and brass duet music stand of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with beautifully rich patination and grain. The well figured moulded mahogany stand is surmounted with central finial and the pair of lecterns feature double lyre ratcheted sheet music holders with brass detail, it is fully adjustable with hinged leaves which can be expanded and utilised as both a singular or duet sheet music holders for performers. Raised over an elegantly simple brass pole fitted with decorative brass knob which adjusts the elevation to raise the stand to various heights of choice. The finely hand carved, ring turned baluster pod is embellished with gorgeous gadroon detail, supported on trefoil base terminating on gracefully tapering cabriole leg with scroll detail.
