About the Item

Rarely seen, this music stand combines a beaded stanza image with curlicues, braid, banded balls at tops of supports and birdcages. It has beaded curlicues decorating the sides. Side chains allow the top section to hinge out for access to the sheet music. It is a marvelous example of superb Victorian design, frilly yet graceful. It is the only one I have seen with the musical stanza woven into it. It also could be used to hold books or magazines.

Condition:

Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. Brass cap on one rear leg is missing and other back cap is broken . One piece is missing back left birdcage. Top of the shelves show some joint cracks and paint should be touched up or repainted. It was repainted several times over the years .
