Thank-you for looking. This gem is a one-of-a-kind custom made luxury cushion (pillow) from an exquisite and rare vintage Salvatore Ferragamo fashion scarf in an elaborate floral zebra design. Salvatore Ferragamo was an innovative shoe designer from Milan renowned for his iconic 1930s cork wedges and the 1947 ‘invisible shoe’. In fact in the 1980s Ferragamo used his early shoe designs as prints on their scarves. He first introduced silk scarves to his collections in the 1950s, the earliest depicting African zoological animals and flora theme, the brand is still known today for producing exotic animals and organic motifs on their luxury scarves. This particular scarf is a very rare and exceptional piece, a treasure of a find. The wild, exotic animal moves energetically across the frame in a majestic and dramatic leap. Its entire body is unusually covered in stripes of charming leaf and flower details almost like camouflage. On a fresh and vibrant lemon yellow ground and encased in a decorative boarder. In the foreground and background are an elaborate stylised tree and foliage in a matching palette of teal blue and sage green and graceful, oriental form. Note the ‘Salvatore Ferragamo’ signature placed proudly within a plaque along the bottom. It would make a spectacular statement piece for an interior. Matched with velvet or rattan furniture would be particularly superb. Printed on a soft sumptuous cotton with a which feels divine to the touch. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled melange effect. It has been created from a repurposed, up-cycled, recycled fabric, used with the intentions on promoting a more eco-friendly environment. We both celebrate and cherish the past and take care with rare and precious vintage and antique materials.
