Antique Afghan Kizil Ayak Turkmen prayer rug with rams horn design to the Mihrab
Circa 1900
A very good small prayer rug, the rams horn design in this format is associated with the Turkmen tribes; especially the Ersari / Kizil Ayak, who settled in Northern Afghanistan Note the stars to the field and other traditional Turkmen design elements The rug has superb colour with a very warm palette
The rug is in excellent condition with slight wear and good pile Both ends have been over bound with fine cloth at some time in the rugs life
The rug is suitable for light domestic use or would make a great display item
