Vintage Moroccan Runner Rug in Blue with Geometric Patterns, from Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960, this 3x9 vintage Moroccan runner rug is believed to hail from the Azilal tribe. On the Design: Ocean blue tones underscore geometric patterns in rich burgundy red and pink, with other playful accents in kind. Keen eyes will also note colorful floral motifs, hourglass patterns and geometric medallions on a larger scale—archaic symbols of Berber primitivist lineage. The saturated colors, playful texture and shabby-chic nature of its beauty are all exemplary of this tribal provenance. Condition: This mid-century Moroccan runner rug is in a great condition for its age and origin—ready for the floor.

Vintage Moroccan Blue Kilim Rug with Geometric Border and Two Diamond Lozenges
Located in Morristown, NJ
Antique early 20th century Moroccan Kilim rug, with two central diamond medallions, made in simple flat-woven or tapestry technique, in which the pattern is produced by horizontal wefts that cover the vertical warps. Given their thinner, supple structure, Kilim rugs are usable not only as decorative floor covering, but also as wall hangings and on furniture or bed coverlets...
