Antique Persian Baluch Rug, circa 1900

About the Item

Having a rich brown field and incorporating electric blue balanced with lighter shades of brown and vivid ivory colors, this turn of the century Persian Baluch rug is decorated with six panel Gul resembling "Tekke Turkaman" Guls and two half guls disappearing under the borders makes this highly collectable piece a mystical work of woven art. Why a baluchi weaver used a pattern of Tekke Turkaman is a question for rug scholars to answer, as for us we could only enjoy this art on the floor and be amused by its beauty, richness of its colors and simplicity of its design. There are two masterfull restorations on this rug and it is in a very good condition.
