Antique Persian Meshad botanic handmade wool rug
Size: 11'4" × 16'9" (345 × 510 cm)
Antique rugs that were executed in the Meshad weaving center are considered the finest of the entire Khorassan province. They normally comprise a cotton foundation and an exceptionally tight, asymmetric knot, with knot density, which is a guarantee of everlasting quality. Mashad rugs are famous for their soft and luminous wool piles, many claim their quality to be second to none.
This early 20th century Persian Meshad carpet has a beige field with a lively trellis of curving leafy vinery, botehs, and palmettes in a subtle palette of soft blues, beiges, and browns within a similar palmette border.
The rug was thoroughly hand knotted out of wool in accordance with traditional weaving techniques by a skilled artisan which enabled it to survive until this day in excellent condition. If properly maintained, the rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
