Radient Antique Oushak Carpet
About the Item
Famed for occupying primetime spots in many Old Masters’ paintings of the Renaissance, Anatolian carpets symbolize the West’s first encounter with Oriental carpets at a grand scale.
At the crossroads between East and West, Anatolian carpets combine Turkic influences, Romano-Hellenistic flavor, Islamic traditions, and Caucasian motifs and patterns to deliver rich and balanced carpets.
Hailing from the city of Oushak, Turkey and its neighboring towns and villages, Oushak carpets are some of the most prominent decorative carpets today. Oushak carpets are prized by designers and decorators for their large and relatively simplistic designs, an expansive color palette, and luminous and silky wool which give them their signature soft texture.
The present carpet is no exception to the rule as it is almost a ‘two-color’ carpet. A powerful flame-red field is framed by an equally radiant royal yellow border. The field is ‘’an-over’’ design of palmettes, pendants, and serrated leaves. A statement piece!
