A beautiful all-silk Turkish Kayseri pictorial rug in a "Tree of Life" design from the 4th quarter of the 1900s. The Turkish Silk Rugs are renowned for their beautiful design and the use of fine weaving techniques and high knot count. The “prayer design” pictorial rug of the tree with various birds around it is set on a wheat color field with the bird designs in blue, red, and pink. It has a border in red with floral designs. A wonderful piece of fine handwoven art to be displayed on the wall and appreciated for generations to come. The 19th century Persian Kashan library rug with a Vase “Tree of Life” design with birds on branches elevating towards the heavens. The field is a very rare and desirable ivory color. The gorgeous border is in a rust red color with the birds design throughout the border. The rug is so finely woven and a very short pile and it feels like a fine textile than a hand-woven rug; It would be and would be great as a tapestry wall art or displayed on the floor. The Kashan “library” rug was woven in an artisan workshop in Kashan and is similar to the rugs from the workshop of master Mohtashem. Having a unique size and design in addition to the rare ivory color field and being woven in one of the best workshops make this truly a woven masterpiece to admire and enjoy. The manufacturing of these masterpieces luxury rugs began late the 19th century. These Turkish rugs were woven in Asian Anatolia, Turkey in the historic city of Hereke. In the mid-19th century, Sultan Abdul Majid proclaimed Hereke to be the royal weaving village. The silk rugs were woven there were considered the finest in the world, this is an example of the white rug which has used soft rust colours to be in harmony with most elements of designs. All examples used select Borsa silk which is the finest quality for traditional rugs. The Sultan required that all of the silk rugs woven in Hereke had to be signed with the name Hereke. These carpets were regularly woven for the aristocracy in Europe, Asia, and The Middle East. The design of this rug is unique because it is an interpretation of the famous 17th-century Mughal carpet from India, and are most sought after by interior designers and collector to buy rugs as an important element of interior designs because resonates elegance and opulence. The Mughal carpet was exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum and was illustrated in the book called flowers under foot, published by the Museum. The carpet has 1200 knots per square inch, and the entire field is woven of silver/metallic thread.
