About the Item

53904 Vintage Tribal Kurdish Rug Runner, 03'09 x 11'04. Handcrafted with precision and dedication by Kurdish Herki tribes in eastern Turkey, notably in the Hakkari province, Kurdish rugs are celebrated for their distinctive geometric patterns and vibrant hues. Utilizing premium wool, these rugs are meticulously constructed to withstand the demands of heavy foot traffic with remarkable durability. Deep within the intricacies of their designs, one discovers symbolic motifs infused with profound cultural and spiritual significance, adding layers of depth and resonance to each rug. Revered for their flawless craftsmanship, cultural importance, and practicality, Kurdish rugs are treasured not only as decorative elements but also as poignant emblems of Kurdish heritage, holding a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts and collectors alike. Infused with the essence of Anatolian tribal enchantment and bold Midcentury Modern flair, this hand-knotted wool vintage Kurdish rug runner captivates with its striking design. Against an abrashed red background, the rug showcases an allover geometric pattern that commands attention. At the heart of the composition lies a large-scale blue and yellow medallion adorned with serrated lozenges and tree of life motifs, serving as a focal point that draws the eye. Additional hexagonal motifs and ambiguous tribal symbols further adorn the field, adding depth and complexity to the rug's overall aesthetic. Framed by an ochre hue border embellished with colorful geometric motifs, the design gains definition and structure, infusing the piece with a sense of balance and sophistication. Crafted with meticulous care and attention to detail, this vintage Kurdish rug runner embodies the spirit of Midcentury Modern design, blending bold colors and geometric patterns with timeless elegance. Each element of the design is thoughtfully placed, creating a harmonious composition that exudes visual interest and sophistication. The juxtaposition of Anatolian tribal motifs with Midcentury Modern styling creates a dynamic interplay of tradition and innovation, resulting in a rug that is both captivating and timeless. As both a functional floor covering and a captivating work of art, this vintage Kurdish rug runner transcends its utilitarian purpose, becoming a focal point that anchors the room. Its bold color palette and intricate geometric motifs invite exploration and conversation, while its Midcentury Modern sensibility adds a touch of sophistication and elegance. Vintage Turkish Oushak Rug, Midcentury Modern Style Meets Timeless Elegance
Located in Dallas, TX
52415 Vintage Turkish Oushak Rug, 04'09 x 11'03. Immerse yourself in the allure of this hand-knotted masterpiece – a vintage Turkish Oushak gallery rug that weaves a tale of timeless elegance. Picture a canvas adorned with four lozenge medallions, each bearing anchor pendants, gracefully scattered over an abrashed red field. Half medallions, mirroring the hues of the edges, extend in a dance towards the heart of the rug. What sets this enchanting creation apart is its unusual main border, a highly stylized rendition of the classic Herati border. It's a spectacle of artistic prowess, adorned with an array of filler motifs – rosettes, eight-pointed stars, and diamonds – a symphony of craftsmanship. As your eyes traverse the rug, simple pearl meander guard borders emerge, offering a delightful contrast to the intricate designs that grace the field and main border. Behold a pleasing time-softened color palette, where hues whisper tales of the past, and an intriguing amalgamation of designs that beckons you to explore further. This Oushak runner is not just a rug; it's a captivating narrative woven into every fiber, destined to breathe life into any space it graces. Antique Malatya Kilim Rug Old South Eastern Anatolian Turkish Carpet
Located in Tokyo, JP
This is a South Eastern Anatolian antique Kilim from the Malatya region with a rare and beautiful color composition. Malatya is Turkey's main kilim production area, and there are many variations. This is one of them, a runner-type kilim. The thread is thin, and the weave is very fine and dense. Some metallic threads are used in this antique kilim, which is rarely seen in Anatolian kilims. Red, navy blue, and gray are the colors that determine the impression of this kilim. Other colors, such as brown, yellow, and light blue, are also used in the patterns. The wavy horizontal striped pattern, plain pattern, and lined motif pattern are woven together to create a kilim that looks like an obi. The pattern of the motif and the pattern of the wave are about the same amounts, giving a lively impression without getting busy. The deep shades of colors and patterns that are familiar to each other are unique to antiques. However, it still retains good coloring, which makes it hard to believe that it is an antique. The runner type is a good type to make this kilim unique. Also, for those who want to create a different kind of home, the use of runners is very effective. Malatya is a town built on one main street that continues for several miles. It is situated in the Tohmasuyu River basin, which is encircled by the high peaks of the eastern Taurus Mountains. This is a fertile agricultural region, particularly for apricots, and has been a prolific weaving area for many years. The modern town was established in 1838; old Malatya, which is close by, was once an important city in Armenia Minor. In Roman times it was important as a garrison town on the eastern frontier, and the settlement came under Ottoman rule in the early fifteenth century. Considering the number of kilims woven in this region there is a surprising lack of diversity in design, especially in the larger kilims; this is possibly a direct result of the Kurdish tribal tradition of weaving only one type of design. Small prayer rugs...
