Laredo Armchair, 3-Legged Contemporary Ergonomic Design w/Traditional Joinery
About the Item
Influences from Mexico, Japan and Stickley are rendered in solid wood using traditional tongue and groove joinery. This sculptural 3-legged contemporary armchair is comfortable because the high arms ergonomically support the body above a 14-high seat. First made by the designer in Laredo, Texas studio in 1994, they are now made to order in Guadalajara, Mexico as signed editions.
These chairs are made from Rosa Morada wood and finished with several coats of matte lacquer and wax. The finish will withstand covered outdoor conditions, avoiding direct sunlight and water.
Rosa Morada trees grow from central Mexico down through tropical Central America and are sustainably harvested by permit and then kiln dried to 10%.

Peter Glassford and Isabel Moncada
Art meets design and function when Peter Glassford and Isabel Moncada, a Texan artist and a Mexican designer began exploring the fields of furniture and lighting in the 90’s. Together, they established their workshop Glassford Moncada in 2016 in Guadalajara, Jalisco; thriving in a strategic region where art, tradition and craftmanship merged together with their exquisite taste and ideas. They shared mutual experiences and influences during their careers, harmonized by the rich local talent found in Jalisco, Mexico. This collective interest and subsequent marriage of two designers focuses on bringing unique beauty to practical needs.
