Michel Ducaroy Sna Roset Armchair France 1950

About the Item

One of MMD’s favourites is this lounge chair designed by Michel Ducaroy and manufactured by SNA Roset, France 1950s. Michel Ducaroy, of course enormously famous by his Togo sofa designed for his own company Ligne Roset, was the director of SNA Roset before he started Ligne Roset. This chair is made in that company where he was the head of design. Something totally different as the Togo sofa of course, made in the reconstruction period, a mix of the designs from Pierre Jeanneret and Rene Gabriel in that same period but much rarer and therefore, more interesting. This super elegant, shaped lounge chair has clear lines from every angle. The slight bent arms are the most recognizable feature of this design. And this feels also very nice in use. Also, construction technical this is a beauty as this is assembled with nuts and bolts, which were kept visible as a part of the design.  The chair is in fully original condition, the solid Sapeli Mahogany wood has an amazing colour and patina, with hardly any wear and a beautiful gentle patina to it. But you can see this chair didn’t have a tough life, also the original cane webbing seat and back are in fantastic original condition. We can assure you; they don’t make chairs like this anymore. A cushion at the seat is advised for extra comfort and protection of the original webbing.  Can be dis assembled for easy and safe transport.
