Totally original Charles Dudouyt Easy chair

About the Item

This chair is a great example of the work of Charles Dudouyt. Its originality is superb as well as its condition. The colour sets this apart from the rest and the size makes it a perfect useable chair for a number of uses. The rush seat is still in amazing condition and shows attractive signs of wear to the paint. The design shows clear influence from the Art Deco period and its smooth edges give this a really powerful decorative charm. Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) started his career as a woodworker, learning crafting art from his father. He innovated the Art Deco and Modernist eras with his creative approach to furniture design. After studying at the École Boulle in Paris, he honed his skills as a designer. He focused on natural materials, carving them in simple, geometric forms and incorporating decorative elements or carved details.
