About the Item

A vintage suite consisting of a bench and two side chairs in black lacquered solid bentwood by Thonet, Austria, first half of the 20th century. The design dates back to the late 19th century while the making is definitely post 1919; this can be deduced by the paper label with the name Thonet in the middle with a T printed on each side. This label is the third version which was introduced in 1919 indeed and registered in 1922. Every piece of the suite has the label described above and the second type of stamp, which in turn was introduced in the 1880s, applied to a smooth area molded on the inside of the seat frame. Chairs and bench feature handwoven cane seats and the Thonet signature design with sinuous lines curving back and forward throughout the legs, armrests and back. Measures refer to the bench, each chair is 41 cm wide, 55 cm deep and 89 cm high. In excellent condition.
