About the Item

Gothic Medieval cathedral oak Misericord bench, circa 15th-17th Centuries. This beautiful small bench or chair stall was often found in Medieval Cathedrals and churches attached to collegiate or Monastic and charitable institutions. Seat can be lifted up as was often needed for people to pass by in the rows of the churches. Hinged when the seat is raised and sturdy in open seating position. This bench is a beautiful example of Gothic workmanship.
