About the Item

Human chair N3 by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Dimensions: D50 x W57 x H114 cm. Materials: Leg in solid beech seating in MDF with metal structure inside and glossy painting, backrest in MDF with glossy painting UV painting. The collection MISE EN SEINE by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is composed by chairs, benches and rugs. The artist has imagined them with the theatre spirit and its lexical field: sense of humour, parade, magnification with the decor into the spotlight and the essence of the scene. Faces are smiling, sight are crossing, souls are travelling. Are we in a comedy, a comic opera or a drama? The author let our mind sail with a free flow under the Maison Dada capital. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is a visionary designer and artist who anticipated the foundations of what fashion is today by infusing art, sport, cartoons and collaborations within his designs. All the artistic environments he touches on embody his passion for history, childhood, and poetry, as well as express his love for bright primary hues. One of the best examples of this, is the line he created for Pope John Paul II, 500 bishops and 5000 priests for World Youth Day in Paris in 1997. During his career, he has worked with many artists such as Keith Haring, Robert Mattlepthorpe, Lady Gaga. As great grandson of a French furniture designer, grandson of a jazz musician and son of an architect, he has always drawn his strength and inspiration from his family heritage. French Designer by training and tireless traveler, he came to China in 2006 to launch his own interior design studio at the age of 24. Dariel has since earned the praise of the interior design industry. He has received several awards, among them selection for Best International Interior Designer – 2012 Andrew Martin Awards, awarded Top 100 talents in Architecture and Design – 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2013 AD Magazine, Top 40 Young Design Talents under 40 – 2013 Perspective 40 Under 40, Top 10 Best Designer in China – Vantage Magazine 2016. In 2017, Thomas Dariel has been elected The Young Design Talent of the Year by EDIDA China Awards, Design Talent of the Year by Trends and The Person of the Year by Trends Home magazines. Thomas Dariel is recognized for his very personal creative style and his habit to push boundaries, to provoke and surprise. A singular signature that he has extended with success to product design, signing with – among others – Cappellini and Moroso. In 2016 and while pursuing his interior design activity, Dariel decided to revive a childhood’s dream by launching his own brand of furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories, Maison Dada.
