About the Item
Inspired by the Scandinavian heritage of design and furniture craftmanship, In Between is a result of Sami Kallio’s solid grounding in traditional wood- working techniques and his eye for ingenious detail.
It started with a single chair which later resulted in a series of furniture including both tables and chairs.

Designer
Sami Kallio
Inheriting an innate appreciation for wood, the material historically used in Scandinavian design, Finnish-born Sami Kallio grew up in Sweden. It was here that he honed his skills in traditional woodworking techniques such as woodturning – mastered during his time training as a cabinetmaker.
An award-winning designer with a studio based in Gothenburg, Kallio designs furniture and interiors translating classical shapes into contemporary expressions with an industrial aesthetic that resonates with a contemporary audience.
Man and machine both play a role in many of Kallio’s creations. Merging modern methods of industrial manufacturing with handcrafted techniques. The result is a refreshing balance between the past and the present.
An interplay between positive and negative space, Kallio’s In Between collection for &Tradition is a discerning blend of elegance and striking visual impact. A combination of form-pressed veneer and turned solid wood, In Between is a physical representation of the refinement of his craft through a lifetime of experience.
