Vilbert chair by Verner Panton for IKEA

About the Item

Verner Panton's Vilbert chair is a colorful and geometric piece of furniture that reflects the designer’s innovative and playful style. It is made of four MDF sections coated with melamine, creating a durable and smooth surface. The Vilbert chair was designed in 1993 and manufactured by Ikea, a Swedish company that produces affordable and modern furniture. The chair was part of a limited edition of 3000 to 4000 pieces. Due to poor sales the chair was pulled off shelves and in some cases, destroyed (as rumor has it). The model is now a rare and sought after collectible piece. The chair showcases Panton’s talent and vision for creating striking and original designs – a fun and vibrant piece that can add a splash of color and personality to any space. Verner Panton was a Danish architect and designer who was known for his innovative and futuristic designs in furniture, lighting, textiles and interiors. He used a variety of materials, especially plastics, and vibrant and exotic colors to create organic shapes and geometric patterns. He is considered one of Denmark’s most influential 20th-century designers.
