Vittorio Dassi dining chairs Italy 1950

About the Item

Unique Vittorio Dassi dining chairs manufactured in Italy 1950. These chairs feature beautifully shaped teak frames and the seats have been re-upholstered in a soft cream velvet fabric. The standout feature of these chairs is their unique design, with an almost floating backrest supported by four connection points. The seamless construction of the whole chair gives the impression of a single piece of wood, creating a fluid and elegant look. With their tapered legs, these chairs have a light and airy appearance, adding to their overall charm. The teak material enhances their natural beauty, making them a focal point in any dining space. Italian designer Vittorio Dassi's elegant and sculptural mid-century modern furniture is a hidden gem for collectors. While less widely known than some of his contemporaries, Dassi's work is characterised by clean lines, angular forms, and impeccable symmetry. Dassi's preferred material was wood, and he expertly utilised rosewood, mahogany, walnut, and other species in his coveted desks, wall units, and seating. His designs often incorporated decorative elements such as glass inlays and hand-carved geometric cutouts, adding unique touches to his pieces. With a career that began in the 1940s at his family's furniture company, Dassi Mobili Moderni, in Lissone, Italy, Vittorio Dassi quickly established himself as a talented designer. His furniture showcased a blend of Art Deco motifs and the forward-looking spirit of mid-century modernism. Notably, Dassi collaborated with renowned architect and designer Gio Ponti, most notably on the furnishings for the Hotel Royal in Naples. Ponti's architectural genius and Dassi's furniture designs came together harmoniously, creating a cohesive and stylish environment. Today, Dassi Mobili Moderni S.R.L. is still in operation in Lissone. Priced and sold individually. Only 3 left for sale. Like all our upholstered pieces these can also be newly upholstered to your admiration. Ask our experienced upholstery department for an affordable quote for the item you want customised. We only use the best quality fabrics, foam, and materials for all our items. Augusto Bozzi Ariston dining chairs Saporiti Italy 1954
By Saporiti, Augusto Bozzi
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Highly rare and beautiful set of 6 so called ‘Ariston’ dining chairs designed by Augusto Bozzi and manufactured by Saporiti, Italy 1954. These chairs have a pressed plywood seat which is finished with teak veneer at the front and back, the black painted metal wire frame supports the seats. The structure provides stability and also a nice contrast with the deep coloured plywood seats. The seats are only connected to the base with 2 screws which are decoratively worked away in the seat, but these details also support the aesthetics of the design. This style was popular in the 1950s. Bozzi was one of the designers who gained credits for his designs during that period, putting Saporiti on the map and becoming one of the big players...
