About the Item
Beautifull and rare 1950ies daybed in walnut and beech wood with cane weaving.
Attributed to Ib Kofod Larsen, made in Denmark in the 1950ies.
Unknown manufacturer. This daybed model has been offered in a famous auctionhouse and a famous design gallery with this attribution.
Characteristic for this daybed is it’s very elegant and thin outline with a slightly raised headrest. The surrounding frame is made of solid walnut wood with an inner frame in solid wood.
The entire seat area is made from traditional cane weaving. Further it comes with it’s still original foam mattress with the original lambs wool cover.
Made in the 1950ies it shows danish manufacturing characteristics and outstanding craftmenship. The outer frame with slightly thinner profile compared to the inner frame and its legs are made from beautiful solid walnut wood. The cane weaving intersects and passes the slots in the frame and beautifully bends around the corners. According to traditional weaving technique on the inside the cane ends are mounted to holes in the frame with wooden dowels.
Overall good to very good vintage condition with some signs of use appropriate to the age and wear. The original cane weaving has been restored, mattress and cover in age appropriate condition with signs if use and some wear. The lambs wool cover partially shows a bit of loss.
Further we could offer to replace the lambs wool cover, if requested - also it’s unlikely to get lambs wool exactly equivalent to the current structure that the cover is woven.
