About the Item

Fledermaus set in Art Nouveau style consisting of 2 chairs executed by the company Thonet. (signed) The design is by Josef Hoffmann from 1907 for the Cabaret Fledermaus and was originally executed by J.&J. Kohn. These chairs are in good condition, the upholstering is torn and stained. To the chairs: Model 728S Beech wood, laquered, original upholstering. Typical Hoffmann balls Thonet company logo present. (special edition) Dimensions chairs: H: 75cm W: 51cm D: 44 cm Josef Hoffmann (15 December 1870 – 7 May 1956) was an Austrian-Moravian architect and designer. He was among the founders of Vienna Secession and co-establisher of the Wiener Werkstätte. His most famous architectural work is the Stoclet Palace, in Brussels, (1905–1911) a pioneering work of Modern Architecture, Art Deco and peak of Vienna Secession architecture.
