About the Item

Introducing an expansive set of six 'Juliane' dining chairs by the renowned Danish designer Johannes Andersen. These artfully designed and crafted chairs were crafted in the 1960s by the reputable furniture manufacturer Uldum Møbelfabrik, and feature a sleek and timeless design that will elevate any dining space. Constructed from premium solid Burmese teak, these chairs boast a durable and high-quality construction that will stand the test of time. The newly re-upholstered seats, recovered in a rich genuine Italian leather hide, provide comfort and style, while the sculpted concave backrests offer a unique and modern touch. The chairs are set on tapered legs that give the design a clean and minimalist look. With the rise of Danish furniture becoming internationally recognized, Anderson was a reputable component in Danish Design. Like many of the other iconic designers in Danish Modern Design, Anderson honed his craft by firstly completing his apprenticeship in cabinetry. By the mid-1930s, when Danish modern design rose in popularity beyond Denmark, he opened his own workshop. He continued to work with other design houses as well, including CFC Silkeborg and Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark as well as Trensum in Sweden. The most notable aspect of his designs were the curves that he used in unexpected and truly extraordinary ways, which are on full display in this splendid set of 'Juliane' chairs. This set of six 'Juliane' chairs is a true masterpiece of Danish Modern design, and is sure to be a statement piece in any home. With it's stunning teak frames, intricate joinery and new rich leather upholstery that perfectly offsets the warm woodgrains this set is sure to make a BOLD impression in any space they inhabit. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of design history. ---Dimensions--- Width: 19.5 in / 49.53 cm Depth: 20.5 in / 52.07 cm Height: 30.25 in / 76.84 cm Seat Height: 18 in / 45.72 cm This elegant set of ultra-rare 'Juliane' dining chairs has recently undergone a partial restoration featuring new leather seats. The solid teak frames are in original, vintage condition and have aged remarkably well showing only trace signs of vintage wear such as light nicks and surface scratches (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided). The seats have been re-upholstered in a rich genuine Italian leather hide that show only the wear of a once living animal (scars, ranch brands etc.). The foam has been replaced with an ultra thin layer of medium density foam for comfort and longevity. This breathtaking chair set is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and video for details on this chair set's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
