Set of 8 Chairs by Verner Panton for Herman Miller 1971

About the Item

Exceptional and rare set of 8 "Panton S Chairs" designed by Verner Panton and manufactured by Herman Miller, authentic 1971. These chairs represent a timeless icon in the design world and are steeped in history. The Panton Chair, created by visionary designer Verner Panton in 1960, was the world's first chair molded in a single unit using the revolutionary injection molding technique. Since 1967, Panton's goal was to create a plastic chair that was comfortable, versatile and stackable. Today, these chairs are a symbol of a bygone era and continue to embody the innovative and bold aesthetic of the 1960s. Their presence in prestigious collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Design Museum in London, the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, and the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen, attests to their importance in the design scene. The set is in excellent condition, with an extraordinary patina that tells the story of the years gone by. In purple color, the chairs show small signs of time that give them a unique character as per the photographs. A couple may be slightly lighter due to sun exposure, easily restored, and only one shows a slight chipping in one foot, almost imperceptible overall that does not compromise its stability.
