Jindrich Halabala Art Deco Lounge Chairs in Floral Upholstery

About the Item

Jindrich Halabala Art Deco Lounge Chairs in Floral Upholstery. This rare set of Art Deco lounge chairs/daybeds was designed by Jindrich Halabala, a Czech designer, in the 1930s. They are a testament to midcentury design in Central Europe, featuring an elegant geometry that contrasts with dynamic elements. Halabala's distinctive aesthetic is both passionate and streamlined, making it well-suited for inviting and functional domestic spaces. The chairs were originally upholstered in floral fabric, but they show signs of wear and use, so we recommend reupholstery before use. The wood has developed a natural patina over time. Jindrich Halabala was born in the Czech Republic in 1903 and studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague. He worked for the UP Company as an Artistic Director, where he designed furniture that was known for its high quality, comparable to the best European manufacturers.
