Pair of Mid Century 366 Armchairs in Pink Velvet, Jozef Chierowski, Europe 1960
By Jozef Chierowski
Located in 05-080 Hornowek, PL
The 366 armchair is an icon of the polish design of the PRL period.
The famous armchair was designed in 1962 by the Polish interior designer and furniture designer Jozef Marian Chierowski. Produced in the Lower Silesian Furniture Factory in Swiebodzice.
The chair has a simple, modernist form. It consists of an upholstered seat combined with a wooden backrest. The organic shape is typical of the 1960s style.
The chair is very ergonomic and comfortable, as the furniture designs of that time were largely focused on the user. Due to its small size, the furniture fits perfectly into the interiors of contemporary apartments, perfectly meeting the needs of customers.
The chair is in perfect condition after a professional renovation. We can prepare this set also in another wood and fabric color.
About the fabric:
This is special collection of velvet in a stunning color range of more than 100 different shades of both pure classic and non-obvious pastel broken colors. The colour palette has been created with extreme attention following the most recent trends. The unique feature of this fabric is its producing in nanotechnologies, so called WATER CLEAN, which gives it a high resistance to stains and facilitates the removal of stains from coffee, chocolate and even ink. This fabric is a perfect imitation of cotton velvet, gives the effect of softness and matte surface which works very well in heavy curtains...

“Orchidée” Lounge Chair by Michel Cadestin for Airborne, France, 1968
By Michel Cadestin
Located in Utrecht, NL
This large fiberglass lounge chair, the “Orchidée” was one of the Cadestin models that were ordered by the Centre Pompidou Museum. The design dates to 1968 and was manufactured by Airborne International.
This chair stands out both in terms of size, as well as its design. While the fiberglass base provides a modern look, the upholstered seat, back and armrests give the chair a cosy feel. With the folding top of the seat and armrests, the chair resembles the shape of an orchid flower, which is where the model’s name derives from.
The chair has been reupholstered in a cognac colored full aniline leather, which gives a nice contrast to the white fiberglass base. Thanks to its impressive size and soft fabric, this chair is perfect for lounging while also adding an eye-catching visual element to any space. Among the models Cadestin designed for the Center Georges Pompidou, the Orchid is one of the most outstanding pieces.
Condition:
In good vintage condition. Some minor scratches on the fiberglass base. Recently reupholstered in premium aniline leather.
Dimensions:
35.43 in W x 40.94 in D x 37.79 in H, seat height 15.15 in
90 cm W x 104 cm D x 96 cm H, seat height 38.5 cm
About the designer:
Michel Cadestin was born in France in 1942. He is an interior designer and architect and through his work, he wishes to offer a functional and fun design accessible to the majority.
A prolific designer, he has experienced with diverse forms and materials during his career. His creations are varied as evidenced by the furniture intended for the Center Georges Pompidou, such as the Karate armchair...

Scandinavian Lounge Chair "Holmenkollen" by Arne Tidemand Ruud
By Arne Tidemand Ruud
Located in Karlstad, SE
The Holmenkollen lounge chair, designed by Arne Tidemand Ruud and produced by AS Inventar, is a beautiful example of mid-century Scandinavian design. It features a teak frame, with thick leather used for the seating and wool upholstery on the cushions. The angle of the chair can be adjusted using the handle under the left armrest.
This particular chair is in very good condition, with the exception of the cushions, which have been replaced. There is also a small piece of wood missing on the underside of the chair, as shown in the picture.
Arne Tidemand Ruud was a master carpenter and interior architect from Norway. He was the son of a master cabinetmaker and attended the State's Handicrafts and Art Industry School, as well as the Kunstgewerbeschule in Stuttgart. In 1945, he obtained his tradesman's certificate and took over his father's company, AS Inventar, in 1952. He ran the company with his wife, Solveig Tidemand Ruud. AS Inventar supplied furniture and interiors to a number of establishments, including the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. However, Ruud is most well-known for his Holmenkollen lounge chair.
The Holmenkollen chair...

Mario Bellini 'Cab' Lounge Chair, Tubular Steel and Leather by Cassina
By Mario Bellini, Cassina
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Loounge chair designed by Mario Bellini in 2015. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy.
Roomy and inviting, cab lounge is a restatement of the cab chair concept. Nothing short of a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the Cab Lounge armchair is perfectly suited to both residential or contract use. The leather upholstery fits the tubular steel frame like an exquisitely tailored garment, complementing the curves, in a perfect symbiosis between the structural and the organic. The eleven leather sections, hand-stitched and fitted with four zipper closures, undergo fourteen hand-executed processes before they are complete. Fitted with a reclining mechanism, the five-spoke base sets off the entire chair, while the ergonomically correct design renders it extraordinarily comfortable; the care taken in the details is without equal.

He has designed countless art, design and architecture exhibitions over the years, both in Italy and abroad: among the latest those at Palazzo Reale with Giotto's masterpieces (2016) and - at the Milanese Museo del '900 - the one dedicated to Margherita Sarfatti (2018-2019). In 2015 the Milan Triennale awarded him the Gold Medal for his career in architecture and in 2017 dedicated a retrospective exhibition to him.
