Pair of Tugendhat Chairs in White Leather by Mies Van Der Rohe, 1929

About the Item

A pair of Tugendhat chairs in white leather designed by architect Mies Van Der Rohe in 1929 for one of his most distinguished projects: the Tugendhat Villa in Brno, Czech Republic. The design was originally manufactured in Germany by Berliner Metallgewerbe Joseph Müller and later produced by Gratz Industries for Knoll beginning in 1964 through the early 1980s.  The Tugendhat chair is reminiscent of Van Der Rohe’s Barcelona chair and features a chrome plated steel cantilever base and curved arms. This pair retains their original white tufted leather upholstery. Unmarked. 1980s.
