About the Item

Penguin lounge chair designed by Ib Kofod Larsen in 1953, for Selig. This editon was produced under license by Selig in the 1960ies in a small series in the US Characteristic for the penguin lounge chair is it’s low profile and beautiful outline. Ib Kofod Larsen created it in 1953. He combined classical danish craftsmanship with the then new plywood technology for manufacturing the back rest. Significant for the penguin chair is it’s „thin“ edges and elegant back rest in plywood with teak verneer. Also it’s rather simple this chair offers great comfort and accommodates very well with midcentury interiors. It still has its original upholstery in light beige fabric that looks brilliant with the solid wood backrest. Overall good vintage condition with few signs of use and wear appropriate to the chair‘s age.
