Pierre Paulin Early Production Mohair "Ribbon" Lounge Chairs for Artifort, 1960s

About the Item

An outrageous pair of early production "Ribbon" lounge chairs designed by the French master Pierre Paulin and manufactured by Artifort in the 1960s. These large, heavy duty loungers are just as much sculpture as they are chair, without sacrificing a morsel of comfort. Yes, they are very comfortable. The chairs retain their original white lacquered plywood bases. There is some loss to the lacquer along the bottom of the chairs, revealing the warm plywood beneath. We love the wear, however we know it's not for everyone, so if you prefer to have that touched up, we can assist with that upon purchase. The rest of the chairs have been fabulously restored in a striking ribbony mohair, each chair stitched meticulously by hand. These early examples are very uncommon, especially as a pair. They are sure to make even your most design savvy friend jealous.
