Set of 2 Mid-Century Danish Rocking Chair with Footstool by Poul Volther, 1960s

About the Item

Simple rocking chair from the danish manufacturer frem røjle based on a design by poul volther from the 1960s. Here in a combination with the very rare ottoman. A very objective design with clear lines. The individual solid wood elements of the chair mostly have a rectangular cross section. The frame aligns downwards into a point and gives this chair its distinctive v-shape. The yellow upholstery is a robust canvas material with a coarse structure and harmonizes perfectly with the wood. The runners are particularly finely executed. When viewed from the side they appear heavy and solid, but when viewed from the front the real filigree is evident. They taper off to almost zero at the front and back. the rare ottoman is designed analogously to the chair. This rocking chair and stool set is hard to find. the chair and ottoman are in very good condition with signs of wear and patina. Upholstery and straps have been professionally replaced.
