Stickley Co. Shaker Type Chestnut Ladder Back Rocker , NYC Circa 1910s

About the Item

1910s Stickley Co. Chestnut Ladder Back Arm Rocker in the Shaker manner. Material Chestnut with cotton velvet upholstery. Original finish with seat Cushions Reupholstered to closely match the original Stickley fabric. Excellent condition, including upholstery with lovely patina. Purchased for $2800 in 1983 in Lenox, Massachusetts. from antiques dealer Charles Flint and used in previous owner In-Law's Law office for nearly 40 years. These chairs, according to the dealer at the time of sale, were from the estate of Mrs Leopold Stickley, who died in 1981. According to the Director of the Stickley Museum Amanda Clifford in 2024, Gustav Stickley had made Shaker like chairs for family and friends at the Mottville Chair Factory in Shaneateles, NY, but could not determined if this was made by Gustav Stickley or L. & J.G. Stickley Inc. Measures 23" in width, 31" in depth 40" in height. Seat height is 15", arm height is 23. Seat interior width 18" and seat interior depth is 20".
